Pillion:(Wikipedia) A pillion is a secondary pad, cushion, or seat behind the main seat or saddle on a horse, motorcycle, or moped. A passenger in this seat is said to ride pillion or may themselves be referred to as a pillion. The word is derived from the Gaelic for "little rug, pillean" which is itself from the Latin pellis for animal skin. One or more pelts would often have been the form a secondary seat took on horseback, and the usage was carried over to motorcycles... [how I came to ride pillion, now that's another story]
On Sunday September 4, 2016, Frank John of Brooklin, ME rode his 2004 Hayabusa through the timing lights at the Loring Timing Association’s “Harvest Event”, recording standing-start speeds of 199.856 mph at the 1.0 mile and 205.123 mph at the 1.5 mi

sobering Tink, glad you are here and can articulate so clearly, your story. The same sort of slap on the wrist goes on in verrrmont, doesn't matter if its maiming or death resulting, weak legal action in motorcycle incidents. The distracted driver that caused my bikerman's low side got no ticket...2 yrs later and a lawyer and he got a useful settlement. Seems like civil action is the only course for bikers if they have the capacity to pursue it. I'm sending healing thoughts for you, gentle thoughts for your posse...and a little hint to take your story to your legislative body and testify for tougher consequences and better driver education for sharing the road...God Speed with love, peace and luv
same shitty settlement happened 2yrs ago in my vt neighborhood. 20 yr old dude huffing and wasted driving, rearended a bike at 55mph, biker landed on his hood then the punk backup, rolled him off and then drove over him, then fled the scene....i was at 3 of his hearings...punk lawyered up and got off with time served and 3 yrs probation and one year rehab.....Donald was a decent guy(the biker) 54yrs old, had a good fabrication job and left his sobbing wife, grown kids and some young grandkids....effing insane....if it had been a tourist on a bicycle, it woulda been a different outcome the courts can only follow the law, but they can use discretion in sentencing....for the perps: may karma visit it back on them 10,000 fold
it's not clear to me if the grievance is noise or motorcycles...it sounds like a smoke screen to get motorcycles gone and any gang affiliations with them. In horse rescue, to lean on a horse abuser, sometimes our only legal venue was to file a health hazard complaint with local authorities. It was stunning how much leverage we could get with that legal tact. The abuser would surrender the horse to avoid a bigger investigation.....maybe this "noise screen" is the means to get motorcycles gone along with any gangs ~ reading the petition site comments, seems the mopeds are ok, afterall how many gangs can racketeer on mopeds....
i should think the clubs would hold the copy writes and/or trade marks to their logos....a good lawyer could counter with that infringement and possibly a class action if the clubs were so inclined. Its like all things in life, learn what the rules are and then fight back using their own rules. This could get very interesting.
i would just really like to hear from someone from in the room. There is so much barely information flying around the internet, biker sites, local news, biased news outlets etc that the story is all over the page of size, scope and accuracy of what went down. Just give me the facts from a witness or two
