Watch Out For Bikers
A Texas man has patented a flying motorcycle -- well, a trike, actually, but it's still cool.

Comment by Phantoad on February 5, 2012 at 5:17pm These machines have been around for years, they are called Gyro-copters here in Australia. You Americans seem to think you invented everything. WAKE UP..

Comment by Mike the Bike on February 5, 2012 at 1:53pm Oh dear, trying to re-invent the wheel!
Comment by nedj10 on February 5, 2012 at 1:42pm they also misrepresent its take off characteristics, autogyros require a runway, they are not VSTOL aircraft...people gonna look pretty stupid slamming into the van in front of them when they try to take off in the middle of traffic as the news article implies :D
Nothing new here...just an autogyro, that's been around since at least the 50's. The Air Command looks much lighter, using aluminum, and not what appears to be a welded cage here. The Lightning Sportcopter starts at about $10,000 less than this. I wonder about the ability to make it legal to ride on the street...now that's a problem. I don't see how it can be..for instance meeeting EPA regulations..using a two stroke engine..and what about anti- collison requirements? Time will tell!

Comment by blind neep on February 5, 2012 at 10:43am It isn't a trike. It's an autogyro and I was in my friend Jim Potts' a few times around 1976
/77 . He used it to do the first cross Channel flight on it.
