Watch Out For Bikers
I'm a new englander so there is alot around me but new hampshire is the closest state and I found a path up and around the mountains or big hills whatever you want to call them that I really enjoy. I probaly do this ride two or three times a week its about 80 miles roundtrip which is really nothing when your laid off for the summers, what else are you gonna do right? anyways the elevation is only a few thousand feet but some of the turns are really tight and some are long bending loop type deals which the combination of both are quite pleasurable to a rider like me. Last august I took pretty much the same route I always do except I took a left down a long twisted road that looked interesting and I was in the mood to investigate....the street was really tight and down hill the whole way and since it was my first time on this road and you literally could not see around the bends until you got there I kept it pretty slow around 30mph which was pretty much a safe speed or so I thought. Without any kind of warning no signs or anything I was coming around a turn that should have had a 15 mph posting atleast especially since you couldnt see 50 feet in front of you cause of how steep and curvy the road was as I am pretty much leaning as far to the left that you can on a cruiser I look up and almost hit a a moose that was just chillen out on the road, with almost no reaction time at all the only thing I could do was bare off to the right where thank god there was grass and a few houses on that part of the road and slid through someone's front lawn and about 6 feet from his front door after taking out a few flower beds and some kind of bird bath thing I couldnt believe I was still upright, confussed and pissed off I put my bike on the kickstand to go see what the hell a moose was doing on the road, well to make a long story short if you see a moose on the road and you live just drive away dont mess with it there not exactly small animals and they dont scare easily especially this one since he was home. The guy that owned the house came out of his front door at this point and was screaming at me for taunting jethro or whatever the hell that gargantian beast was called. I turned around to the old man and I am glad he was old cause I probally would have lost my cool if he was closer to my age and he told me after I cooled off a lil that he loves to feed that damn moose and he usually stays around his yard for a good part of the day....Folks this is my problem with the whole jethro deal if your gonna feed a pet that weighs more than a car either build a metal fence/cage for the friggin thing, put up a sign to warn people to be aware of a furry monster that takes picnics in the middle of the street or STOP FEEDING the friggin thing, I got back on my bike and before I could completely get going back down the hill this dude wants my insurance info so he knows who to bill for the flowers etc... Can you believe the nerve of this guy anyways I havent been down that road again and certainly didnt pay for his flower pots but fare warning to all you riders out in the nh region if ur ever up in the white mts beware of jethro and all others like him, cause obviously the snappaheads that live up that way think there dogs
