Homemade Hardware pt.3

Posted on January 30, 2012 at 5:48pm 5 Comments

HOT DAMN! I made it back to IA ! Believe me when I tell you I was concerned too. Improvise, adapt and overcome! After I figured out how to cram all my crap in the car and open trunk, my next stop was to find someone to look at the tie downs to make sure they looked ok. A nice fella at Tractor Suppy, a fellow rider, said they looked good. So, off I go. All the while checking the rear view and looking for cops. When I get to Homer NE it's time to check the straps. They had loosened a bit and…

homemade hardware pt. 2

hi, It's me again. the hardware didn't work, wouldn't work, I tried to tell them this. maybe one day if I grow a set and get all hairy I can be listened to. Now I'm not saying the arrangement I have now will get me 400 miles. you see when we got the front wheel into the trunk we had to turn the wheel, this would not have been the case if the bumper had been cut down as per my direction. So, she is now suspended and my bumber is holding the tension off the forks and triple tree.…

my idea was to take the trunk lid off and start cutting the trunk up. My bike was going to get home no matter what I had to do to get her there. So my concerned friends came up with a better solution. Angle iron and big bolts. I will take the front tire off and run this rod thru the forks in its place then mount the bike on the hardware which is bolted to the space where my licence plate was. It's too early on sunday morning for my help to arrive so I will let you know later how the new idea…

Once upon a time i had a '78 Yamaha 360 enduro.  It was a great bike and I was 16 years old and took it to the limits but everytime i'd kick it over the kick start would snap back and take chunks outta the back of my calf.  Real high compression in those little Yamaha's if your kicking it over.

With your will and determination, grit and ingenuity you will be back in the wind soon. I hope you have made many new friends in your new location. ( some with mechanical ability ) Get yours fixed and ride the heck out of it. Soon a deal will come by that makes your cheeks sore from smiling 24/7. Best of luck and thanks for the friend invite.
