The first 30 years were w/o a windshield, the last 10 have been either way. I do know that riding across New Mexico in 114 degree temp. it was a lot better with one, and the riders w/o were heat stressed!

I have told new riders since the 70's that if you don't "claim your lane" , they will take it! I choose which tire track to ride in depending on the traffic around me, also waaaay to many riders choose to ride right in the center…
