The Arizona desert can be a deadly place to a rider with no transportation. The indifferent sun engulfed the stranded leather-clad rider with suffocating heat and the constant wind gusts drove hot sand into every crevice of both machine and rider. Lockdown here, responding to your questions about ABATE of Florida, Inc. As you may know, I am the ABATE of Florida State Public Relations Trustee. It's my job to help the public and the media to be aware of what ABATE of Florida is doing through Press Releases and our website, www.abateflorida.com. Keep in mind that since most states in the U.S. have their own ABATE or other MRO groups, I can only comment on ABATE of Florida, Inc.'s activities and intents.I highly recommend you read a Press Release we sent out last week regarding the improper and incorrect questions about "misappropriations of funds". The Florida Joint Legislative Auditing Committee had a hearing about this and decided that ABATE of FL was abiding by the contract we have, every penny was accounted for and in a legal manner. You should also listen to the entire hearing where the Committee asks our State President, as well as the individual who slandered ABATE of Florida by making untruthful allegations, about the contract and the spending of the State of Florida motorcycle safety funds. In the end, the committee realized that we had already been audited, it was a good audit, and we were doing nothing wrong.
Thanks for understanding about those that don’t choose to lead, instead choose to sit in back and complain. I would much rather instead of complaining about our MRO, they fight the fight instead of constantly battling others that stand for Bikers’ Rights.
What does ABATE mean to me? Personally, ABATE of Florida, Inc. is a group of concerned citizens, motorcyclists, and bikers that not only want to have the freedom of choosing how they or others ride, but also want to help educate the motoring public to remember to look out for bikes on the roadways. ABATE can be about Brother/Sisterhood and parties, but those are all SECONDARY to our mission/purposes. Meeting like-minded people, making strong bonds of friendship, having a good time with all; these are all BONUSES to being involved in a State Motorcyclists Rights Organization, and without a doubt, not what ABATE, regardless of the state it’s in, is about. We’re about the FREEDOM OF CHOICE first, and TEACHING THE PUBLIC TO BE AWARE OF MOTORCYCLES ON THE ROADS second. Everything else is a bonus.
