Comment by Wild Bill 23 hours ago This is a reminder to all who have security on their bikes. Don't forget to change the battery in the key fob!!!!!. Otherwise the bike could leave you sit.
Comment by Rick on May 13, 2012 at 6:27pm Hello Twoshovels, replacing the cilinder was an easy job , first i the cilnderwall a good oil coat, then tichten te rings, and carefully put the cilinder on the first ring a little in an angle to allow the first ring "glide" smoothly in the cilinder, removing rockerbox , cilinderhead and cilinder is an easy job to do ! we are not that experienced bud we did the disamble job in 5 hours included the removing of gastank, exhaust , injection >> rebuiding time was about 7 hrs till runing condition
Well done walliwally!
What did you do for the rings or cylinder wall? I'm a shovelhead man so not sure if you could have removed the head without the separating the piston from the cylinder, but you will probably need to "run it in" for 2000km or more.
My bike is a '97 E Glide and now for the first time ever a engine problem, so ,, me and my girlfriend we fixed it together and now we are going for the next 100.000 km ,, first thing to do was making a cutted tool for the cilinderheadcover screws,
the damaged cilinderhead gasket was on the rear cilinder , for the best , we changed all the gaskettes coz the work is the same and it take's just an hour more to do ,some time's we taking a break with a glas of wine to refuel the energy
a tuff job to do is ,, removing the old pakaging !!
the trouble maker
after evrything was rebuild , we have made a test drive from aprox 300 miles and super ok !!!
Comment by randyg on May 9, 2012 at 10:49pm Hey Solo..I rode a 89 FXR for 6 years, kept that bike and bought a 03 anniversary edition Gold Key Fatboy and rode it for 6 years and finally got a great deal on an 07 Ultra Classic with a 103 motor and SE 255 cams. This has always been the bike of my dreams and I just love it. Only thing about it is the weight. When I go to back up, I have to watch how much I lean the bike from side to side. Other than that, I LOVE this bike..Glad you are happy with yours...
Comment by Solo on May 9, 2012 at 9:49pm Just purchased my first Electra Glide Ultra Classic today. I will post pictures as soon as I take a few. It has been a long time coming, and even though I had expected to wait until retirement to make this purchase, I was thrown a deal that I could not back away from. Best friggin' bike I have rode to date.
Comment by randyg on May 9, 2012 at 9:40pm twoshovels...I have gone for a little over 5 years and my next ct scan is due in August and they have all looked great. I missed my last 6 month ct because my insurance thought there wasn't enough reason to do a ct scan...They should now that NHL is known for coming back on people so hope they cant get out of the next ct scan so the DR. can tell me I am cancer free...Really waiting for her to say those words...Have a great ride to Milwaukee...
Gosh randyg, I sure hope so. I find my only trouble is on the bottom of my thighs where the seat rubs. I can't wear boxers cause I can feel the seam after a few hours. I hope your troubles are behind you... I have 2 friends with NHL, one is battling for the second time. Good luck and God bless...
