We all know that H-D has to manufacture their bikes under EPA guidelines. In my experience most bikers, to say it nicely, don't give a rats ass about the EPA.What tickles me, is most aftermarket performance parts are listed as "for Race Use…Continue

Kind of falls in line with each biker making their bike their own. Took  me 5 yrs and many  $$ later, but I got my scoot where I want it. Runs great and got it fitted to me. Now I can ride for many hours without any problems. I am so ready for the riding season to get going. Places to go and people to see.

yup, guess your right. that explains why h-d offers so many other seats.

Comment by Never2old on February 19, 2012 at 7:35pm

Bill-NY - the stock seat that came with my 2011 Sportster Superlow wasn't completely terrible, but I knew that I would be a lot more comfortable with a Mustang seat, so that's why I went ahead and purchased one for my bike.

Pappy - I guess HD wants us to purchase one of their other seats from them and that's why they put some uncomfortable stock seats on them...more money for the dealer.

You would think that H-D R&D would take notice of their seat issues.

Just saying.

Have to agree with Never2old as when my wife rode on her shadow she would have problems on some of the trips we would take. After a couple of hours of riding her butt would become numb as well as her legs. I decided with some research that a new seat may help and would also dress up her bike at the same time. That was 3 yrs ago and I haven't regretted that decision one bit. She has ridden with me since in comfort and her only complaint is that we should stop a little more often on some of our trips to see some of the sights along the way. Most of our riding is done on weekends and is usually 200-300 mile range in one day. She loves her Mustang seat and the only problem I have now is that we just purchased her a new HD sporster low rider and have no idea how comfortable she will be in the saddle. Time will tell but I can also say that if she is not happy with the stock seat, I will gladly get her another Mustang for her new ride. Worth every penny i spent in the past as we really enjoy our riding time together.

My name is Alex from Long Island NY. I ride a Harley Tri-Glide Ultra Classic. I can't wait for spring to get here.

Great advise Never2old! I must admit, I can ride a very long time with the stock seat, but after 100 or so miles, I need a lil help off, my legs go numb...lol
