At risk of starting a huge debate, I was surfing the web today (Google is your friend)and was surprised to find my old rice burner was made in America.(WHAAAAT???) From 1981 till 2010 Gold wings were made in Marysville Ohio.Who woulda thunk it? Now please correct me if I am wrong (Lord knows I have been before) but if you are made in America, don't that make you an American?

Quoting the source   http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/30/goodbye-goldwing-honda-officiall...

"Finished in 1979, the 330,000 square-foot Marysville Motorcycle Plant that has assembled the Gold Wing since 1981 was the first Honda manufacturing facility in America. Since then, over a million Honda Gold Wing motorcycles have made their way down the assembly line and four additional assembly plants have been erected in Ohio producing cars, SUVs, engines and transmissions."

So now I guess the question is do I keep feeding it rice or can it have some biscuits and gravy?

Just look at your V.I.N. everyone.

It starts with the "World Manufacturer Identifier" and 1=United States, J=Japan, W=Germany, Z=Italy.

There's lots of cool data in a V.I.N.  Everyone should learn how to read them.

"America, don't that make you an American?" - Yes. Unless you are someone so completely batshit crazy like the "birthers" such as Orly Taitz.

Wow, who'd a thunk it? A rice-er-ator made in the good ol' USA? Actually, I think it was smart of the Japaneze to have a factory in the country it sells a good slice-o-pie of it's market to. American made? You bet and they paid good wages to their employees, 'cause the Japaneze know about family and keeping employees happy. Unlike some American companies who pay as low as legal.

Aw well, when you buy a 'Foreign' motorcycle, even if they have a factory/office/assembly plant in the USA, the profits still go to the parent company. Soooo, it would follow that, even if HD buys some parts from or has some assembly done in other countries... The profits still come to America. Victory is another American made bike (the Ness influence is a bit much for me) and I've heard Indian is going to make another try...

So, all this is jmo... justmyopinion... feel free to thrust and slash... as the urge strikes ya...
