Hi All. Anyone have any experience with any after market warranties? I have a 05 Road King and the warranty (extended), ran out in April. I'm getting ready to go on a 3500 mile trip and just want peace of mind, if it's affordable. Thanks in advance. Ride Safe.

Miles: 31

I'd take along my HOG Atlas it lists all the Harley dealerships in the U.S. with telephone numbers, just in case you break down. Assuming you're a HOG member you should take along its Roadside Assistance telephone number. And don't forget your cell phone.

Thanks Ron. It's me, Ron (NG). I have that stuff in my bike already and upgraded my HOG membership to include unlimited towing and rental reimbursement. Thanks again.

dont hav a clue bout after mrky warr. but i jus had my 50thousand mile done on mine to go to sturgis(4000) round trip and it was fine.

Check with the dealership where you purchased. (if you bought it retail) If not then call the nearest. Most Harleys under 10 yrs old can be warrantied thru extension, however its pricey and the dealership may opt to do a service check which will give them info on use and/or abuse. With Harley these days its like everything else. You want it bad enough, you'll pay for it. My personal suggestion is if you have the funds to cover a major repair, IE: tranny, motor replacement, do as suggested previous. Keep track of the dealerships and/or available service ctrs. along the way and use HOG roadside asst if needed. HOG only tows to closests dealer. I've used my insurance roadside which will tow the dad gum thing home if I wanted!

Be sure of what you are getting.  a local delaware harley dealer sells after market warranties and they are only good at that dealership.  out on the road its your wallet that will take a beating.  get an upgrade on the hog membership for free towing for $20/year.  get only a genuine harley extended warranty.  everything else is junk.

Something to consider is that AAA offers motorcycle coverage. (Plus, it covers you in any vehicle so it's not just bike related; which is helpful, too.)

I live in a remote area and needed reassurance that when I ride, exploring on my own, I can have help at hand if I get stranded. It's already paid for itself.

If the extended warranty is too pricey, at least you have a viable and affordable option for some concerns while traveling long distance. Good luck and have fun!

good to know...im in the process of buying my first harley and it was one of the questions i asked but never got a straigght answer on

Warranties and HOG memberships are just as valuable as the paper they're printed on and that's IT!!!!! Almost totally worthless; you'll wind up paying through the nose regardless, and I speak from experience on both counts. Email me at crobarr2@gmail.com if you haven't already heard my stories.

Don't know about the HOG Membership, but I agree that aftermarket warranties aint worth a shit!!!!!

Thanks everyone for your responses. Can't find one that would be reliable, in my opinion, so just going to wing it. I'll have a full service done to it before I leave and let the Harley do it's thing..
