Highway bill in current form would prohibit motorcycle checkpoints
Motorcycle-specific roadside checkpoints would be prohibited, according to wording included by Wisconsin Rep. James Sensenbrenner in the federal highways bill, in mark-up today in the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Sensenbrenner applauded the committee's inclusion of his wording in the bill, stating that, "We need to focus on proven methods of motorcycle safety, including crash prevention, rider education, and training and proper licensing. Motorcycle-only checkpoints are an intrusive governmental overreach that place an undue burden on riders while doing little to actually improve safety. It is encouraging to see that the Transportation Reauthorization Bill will encourage more efficient use of taxpayer dollars and smart motorcycle safety policy."

All checkpoints are impeding on your 4th amendment rights period !
They are un-constitutional! The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
They are supose to have probable cause! and to force you over to at a check point is NOT PROBABLE CAUSE!!!! I dont give a crap which state you live in!

In new york state there are already check points for motorcycle only.this year the state approved funding to ramp up the check points by state police.this is wrong and it is happening here in new york state.the new york state troopers are going to be paid overtime to do motorcycle only stops and checks and they will only be doing that on o.t. at the tax payers expense.

The Government needs to leave us people alone and quit harrassing us while we are enjoying what little freedom we have left. It's like pulling over all Mercedes drivers. That will never happen. If someone breaks the law then pull them over otherwise leave us alone.

The VABA and VCOM (SRO's) both lobbied against this in Richmond VA for Lobby day. We met with a lot of success with our efforts with the legislators we spoke to including a former VA State Policeman who now is a Senator. This borders on profiling and I agree that this is needs to be outlawed in every state.

I strongly believe in safety,I'm not a rocket scientist,So I don't try to tell scientist how to build a rocketship.And these politions,Don't or can't ride bikes,They can't even do the job they were elected to do.If they would like to do atleast (ONE)Thing right.Why don't they put signs up on roads Of biker Awearness,Run adds on TV,& Radios,Makeing Biker awearness,Stiff fines on people who don't yield,Or pull out in front of Motorcycles,Causeing wrecks.Put a 25or 28yr old limit,To own or ride one of these croctch rocketts,Maybe some of these guys will have grown up enough to ride respectfully,And save some young lives.Double fines on speeding Bikers.

Last year when Georgia setup checkpoints during Bike Week I tried to organize a boycott of Georgia businesses...

I made it a point to not spend one cent in Georgia, and if they plan to do it again this year I won't spend any money in Georgia again.
